Preliminary data from the literature indicate that acceptability and desirability of the COVD-19 vaccine are influenced by several sociodemographic and obstetric factors. However, most of the studies were conducted before or at the beginning of the mass vaccination campaigns against COVID-19. Likewise, we have little information related to the effectiveness and adverse effects of the vaccine, especially in the group of pregnant and postpartum women. Also, literature data on vaccine acceptability and associated factors in the Brazilian population (pregnant and non-pregnant women and their partners) are still scarce. Thus, with the advancement of universal vaccination, and the need for additional doses, there is an urgent need to assess the degree of acceptability and factors associated with hesitancy in seeking vaccination in these population groups.
The main objective of this research project is to increase knowledge and understanding about the degree of acceptability and factors associated with hesitancy in seeking vaccination in these population groups. The specific objectives are:
1)Describe the sociodemographic characteristics of the participants (women of reproductive age and their partners);
2)To evaluate the acceptability rate of the COVID-19 vaccine in pregnant women;
3) To evaluate the acceptability rate of the COVID-19 vaccine in non-pregnant women;
4)To measure the acceptability rate of the COVID-19 vaccine in the male participant group;
5) Assess the source of information accessed by women (pregnant and non-pregnant) and their partners about COVID-19 and COVID-19 vaccine;
6)explore the individual factors (sociodemographic, access to information, degree of knowledge about COVID-19, obstetric, influenza vaccination history, history of SARS- CoV-2 infection) associated with acceptability of the COVID-19 vaccine;
7)Explore individual factors associated with the desire and acceptability of additional doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
